Newcastle Earth Day Celebration

Earth Day activities are a fun way to learn more about how to responsibly care for our planet. Enjoy music in the morning by the Hazen Jazz Bank and in the afternoon with the Good Co Electro Swing Band, a kid’s parade at noon, all day petting zoo, raptor display and more. Join us for the Celebration!

“We are a community that loves and cares for Newcastle’s natural environment. I’m excited to be part of this year’s Earth Day event with so many great activities,” Rachae Pisano, Earth Day Planning Committee member.

Meet at the stage at 10:00 AM for the event kick-off. Participate in the City’s wetland restoration project at 10:30 AM and help restore an important wildlife habitat located a short walking distance south of the park. Wear sturdy shoes. Gloves, tools, and pizza provided for hungry volunteers, compliments of Jet City Pizza.

Attend the Tree Workshop at 1:00PM receive a free tree for your yard. Hear from students how important trees are to us and the planet.

Learn how you can help Newcastle become a Wildlife Habitat Community. Your yard counts toward Newcastle’s Community Wildlife Habitat certification with the National Wildlife Federation.

Get a good start on your garden with the easy “peel ’n pop in the ground” veggie bedding starts and pollinator plants.

Thanks to West Seattle Natural Energy, the stage is energized with solar power! Check out the awesome electric cars from Seattle Vehicle Association. Non-profit organizations include: Just Frogs & Friends Amphibian Center, Raptor House Rehabilitation Center, Animal Encounters Petting Zoo, National Wildlife Federation, County Noxious Weed Control Program, Boy Scout Troop 499 of Newcastle, Newcastle Trails, King County Library Book Mobile Van, Coal Creek YMCA, Eastside Audubon Society, WA Native Plant Society, the Nature Conservancy, Citizen’s Climate Lobby, CarbonWA, and more!

Newcastle Earth Day is produced by the Weed Warriors through a partnership with the City of Newcastle and the King Conservation District, promoting a vision of community-wide environmental responsibility.

Earth Day is a family fun event in Newcastle’s beautiful Lake Boren Park. Plenty of free parking. Food trucks on site.
